Tourist Routes Perthshire
The Perthshire Tourist route is a short 43 miles but it certainly provides a punch. This amazing tour is an absolute visual feast, showing Scotlands wild countryside at its best.
.
Starting just north of Dunblane (famous for many things including Sir Andy Murray, Scotlands best tennis player) you will travel north to a final destination Ballinluig which is just south of the beautiful village of Pitlochry.
.
This beautiful part of the country has absolutely everything for the budding adventurer from mountain biking, bungee jumping to white water rafting or munro bagging, while for the history enthusiasts who is looking for a more gentle afternoon, why not enjoy learning more at the Scottish Crannog Centre, a magnificent Iron Age dwelling set on Loch Tay, or enjoy wandering around a few of the castle set high up in the hillside.
.
Following the River Tay you will have the opportunity to spot amazing wildlife in their natural habitat from Golden eagles circling high up in the skies to 1000’s of Salmon trying to get up the river to spawn. The Fish Ladder at Pitlochry Dam is certainly one of my favourite spots and it is amazing to watch these fish battle against the odds.
.
Perthshire is also not short on distilleries and it has some very famous ones that you may like to try, There is the Strathearn Distillery, the countries smallest whisky manufacturer, or the Glenturret Distillery who have been creating their magic believe it or not from 1775.
.
No matter what you fancy doing, you will certainly find it along this 43 miles of stunning unforgettable countryside, a real gem right bang in the middle of Scotland.
