Stretching for almost 22.6 miles (36.4km), from Fort Augustus in the south to Bona Lighthouse in the north, this iconic landmark is the largest loch by volume in the UK, containing more than 1.639 trillion gallons (7.45 billion cubic metres) of fresh water. That's more freshwater than all the lakes in England and Wales combined!

With depths of up to 754 feet (230m) – more than double the height of Big Ben Clock Tower in London - there's plenty of room for our famous inhabitant to lurk beneath the surface.
