Award winning Derbyshire based plein air oil painter Peter Wigley aims to achieve an impressionistic interpretation of a scene rather than photographic. "My paintings are how I react to nature's splendour," says Peter, who sometimes uses acrylics, too. "They are of places visited many times in different seasons and light conditions. This is what motivates me to try and capture the essence and atmosphere of a place." Most of Peter's work is based on Derbyshire scenes. He has several exhibitions annually and has won the Tarmac Landscape Award at the Derbyshire Open in Buxton.
