LAURA THOMPSON
I like to rely heavily on the playfulness and unpredictable nature of paint collaborating with human error, I never fully realise my idea before I begin as having a preconceived notion of the outcome removes the enjoyment of working, this does however impact on my success rate and contributes to my layered working style. Trial and error have become the main reason to film my working process, allowing myself and anyone who experiences the work to see beneath the skin. My composition and colour process is very much like getting dressed in the morning, I go with what feels right that day and I don’t hold back; if that means having to re paint tomorrow, then so be it. Colours are certainly moldable and highly temporary, until a moment of satisfaction and occasionally surprise comes with a combination of hues. I hope you enjoy this portrait and thank you for reading, Laura
