My main passion in my creative practise is creating still life paintings, with a focus on form, colour and compostion. My work has evolved around the notion of still life as a vehicle for symbolism and story-telling, I have a deep interest in curios and the nature of conservation, materialism and exploring why as individuals and as societies we hold on to 'things' and how these help, change and perpetuate memories. These are things that run through my head while painting and hope viewers can find something they can connect to on any level.
I have an eclectic sphere of influences; painters I love include Frida Kahlo, Manet, Clara Peeters, Edgar Degas and Elisabeth Vigée LeBrun, as well as being inspired by Buddhism, eastern philosophy, mysticism, travel, politics and everyday life.
