CHARLIE BUTLER

I have drawn and painted all my life and knew from an early age that Art was always going to be my best friend.

I've been fortunate enough to make a living from my work and have sold my paintings across the globe. My compositions hang in private and commercial settings, including hotels, offices and private homes.

My current portfolio focuses on still life. I aim to illustrate occasions by capturing a visual memory. I love the organic quality of food and I strive to convey the essence of the produce I am painting. I often work from an aerial perspective as I find the composition more interesting in terms of the shapes, colours and textures. I like the way it feels as though the viewer is looking down on the event and how it challenges perspective when it is hung on the wall. I work in oils or acrylics on either canvas or board.

I am inspired by Photo-realism, Impressionism and the Art-deco period. I love the work of Georgia O'Keefe, Frida Khalo and Amedeo Modigliani. I follow other contemporary still life artists and photographers such as Emma Dunbar and Nicole Franzen respectively.
