Bill Ward is a photographer and actor, and lives in Bristol.
Water remains a constant theme in his work. Born and bred in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the North East of England, his grandfather ran one of the river's last great shipyards, and he spent much of his childhood on the vast Northumbrian beaches getting very wet indeed.
He has always been fascinated by water in general, and the coast in particular.
Most of the pictures he takes are at the extremes of the day, first or last light, usually with long exposures, often up to 3 minutes and occasionally beyond.
He has been a finalist in the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year competition, and his work is carried by a number of art galleries throughout the country.
As well as being a photographer, he is also an actor. He is probably best known for playing the misogynistic builder Charlie Stubbs in the UK TV show Coronation Street, a role he played for over 280 episodes and for which he won a number of awards. He's also done an awful lot of other work across TV, Film and Theatre that he's equally proud of.
He is currently appearing on British TV as the regular character James Barton in Emmerdale.
