    AUDREY KELLOW

Audrey trained in Illustration & design at Falmouth College of Art from 1992 / 96 since when she has been involved with various illustration commissions, many exhibitions and with galleries in Cornwall. She also has a teaching certificate and Cert. Ed. and has worked part time for the local adult education college.

Her paintings are in oils on various sized canvases, framed and unframed.

She also illustrates her own children’s stories and verse.

    Biography

I have been painting in oils since being introduced to them at Helston School in the 1960s. Originating from Greatwork, a small mining hamlet which sits between the Tregonning and Godolphin hills and within sight of Mounts Bay, my work has always been influenced by the coast and countryside of this area.

Fond memories of the lanes, quiet as a whisper on a hot summers day, walking along them towards Godolphin, or to Germoe and Praa Sands where they open to a width of turquoise sea and spacious windswept sands. Memories of time spent here come with vibrancy and warmth, and figurative paintings reflect personal moments, particularly from childhood, in this area.

My more abstract work is concerned with the depths of feeling experienced for familiar land and seascapes, particularly the ancient mining area in which I grew up, the layers are reflective of the rich layers beneath the soil, the many colours in the granite, changing seasons in Godolphin woods, or the awesome power and jewel like colours of the sea.

Work is generally produced for galleries, exhibitions and for the website but I also illustrate and take commissions.
