The Old School House
Logie Easter
‘A laid back luxury - no frill’s escape - where you can truly unwind in comfort in a beautiful setting’
.
.
The Old School House Logie Easter is a beautifully restored Victorian schoolhouse situated mid-way between Tain and Invergordon. It sits in splendid isolation surrounded by fields and the Morangie Forest as its backdrop. It is accessed directly from the famous A9 NC500 route and is conveniently just a few minutes from the nearest supermarket and town.
.
A restored well situated in the front garden is reported to have been of significant historical importance visited by King James IV who came to drink the water which was believed to have healing properties.
.
The location is ideal for exploring the Scottish Highlands and Islands as well as having numerous local attractions close by such as 5 castles, numerous distilleries (the famous Morangie distillery being just down the road) and several sandy beaches. The Morangie forest offers miles of forest walks and tracks including bike trails.

Angus and Julie MacLeod, owners of the Old School House, would like to offer you a warm welcome to our self-contained apartment. We hope that you enjoy your stay.
.
Image 2
The Old School House was built in 1890 and re-furbished and extended out to the back in 2007. The present layout consists of the main house at the front and three self-contained apartments which have interlocking doors which separate the apartments with the option to open up the whole house as one.
.
Image 3
You are staying in the middle of the three apartments, known as apartment two. There is an interlocking door to apartment one at the back of the kitchen and an interlocking door to apartment three from the main apartment room. These doors will remain locked during your stay for your security and privacy.
.

The garden grounds extend to two acres and you are free to use the grounds for your recreation and leisure. There are some resident birds of prey and we get the occasional visit from deer in the field behind us. In Spring time the surrounding fields are bustling with baby lambs. The tree line behind the house marks the start of the Morangie Forest with its wonderful walks and cycling trails. Our closest neighbours are nearly half a mile away.
.

You can be walking on our wonderful beaches after a short car journey. We have fishing and golf courses nearby, riding, bike trails, museums, distilleries and of course we are ideally placed for day trips to Skye, Inverness, John O’Groats and the NC 500. Loch Ness and the Steam Train at Fort William are an easy drive.

Travel up this road past the sign (and parking area for the quarry) and pull in to the next parking area on the LHS. There are wooden walking signs for the Loch and there is a circular path all around the Loch starting at the boat house. . Milton Cummunity Woods Turn South onto the A9 for approx. 1 mile and turn right at Ken’s Garage (signpost Milton and Invergordon). Carry on this road for a couple of miles and turn left into hamlet of Milton. Turn right and right again in the housing estate following signs for Milton Community Woods to car park. Easy flat gradient and circular walks through the woods and to the shore. . Aldie Burn Turn north on A9 towards Tain. Signposted off Tain by-pass - turn left off A9 into Scotsburn Road, carry on for a couple of miles and Aldie Burn car park is on RHS. Easy gradient walks and cycle tracks. . Tain Hill Turn north on A9 towards Tain. Signposted off Tain by-pass. Turn left up Viewfield Rd past Carnegie Lodge Hotel. Go right to top of hill to car park. (but well worth it!)
Canmore Woods Distance: 1 mile, Time: 0.5 hour, Grade: Flat, easy walking on roads and pathways. Take the A9 North across the Dornoch Firth bridge. Take the first turning on the right after the bridge down a narrow one way road. Continue along this road for about 2 miles and you will see a sign on LHS for Camore Woods up the forestry road until you reach the car park. . Ledmore and Migdale Woods This beautiful spot in the Scottish Highlands offers an en- riching and magical experience to visitors looking for fantastic walks, a vast array of wildlife, tran- quillity, and a rich and diverse habitat to explore. (Grid reference:NH661904). Head north on A9 over the Dornoch Firth bridge and turn left onto the A949 towards Spinningdale and Bonar Bridge. Turn right into a narrow road at the bot- tom of the hill as you enter Spinning dale and just before a sharp left bend and before Spinning- dale Motors. Parking is on the RHS about a mile and a half up this road. . Balblair Woods and shore walk Travel to Golspie on A9 and turn right to Little Ferry. Follow this road past the golf course and you will come to Balblair Woods and carpark where you can walk to Loch Fleet. If you carry on further down the road to the Pier there are car parks on the left from which you can take a pleasant 3 mile walk along the shore. . Big Burn Walk travel out of Golspie on A9 and you will see a sign on left for Big Burn Walk car park. An amazing short walk to a waterfall across a succession of bridges within a ravine .
